Ferrari GTO Replica: Sexy Little Italian Racer

The Scorpion GTZ race car is the replica of a Ferrari GTO; the 1960’s Italian race car that looks very similar to a 1970's Datsun 280 Z. Don't be mistaken about this race car, however, as it is far from being anything like a Datsun after you transform it with this amazing kit.

This little Italian hottie was originally developed by ‘ScorpionZcars’ in the US but was later produced by ‘OM Sportscars’ in England and really can turn some heads on the road if you get everything right when you are building her.  It has that long sleek look of an Italian car but also impresses its admirers with a bit more of the 'race car' appeal. If you are serious about you kitcars, this is definitely a build to contemplate in the years to come.

Builders actually start with one of the old Datsun cars and remove the front end.  You are going to have to do some shopping for the right salvage pieces because you don't want a bunch of problems after you have spent your hard earned time and money. The 240, 260 and 280Z are all worthy candidates for this build and you can then enlarge the rear wheel-arches and close up the rear quarter lights so as to give it more of the Ferarri look.  A lot of care and attention to this build is what separates the men from the boys.  There will be some long hours of looking around, some long hours in the garage and then some long hours of looking around again. Finally, after you have the intial salvage phase taken care of, the bumper & emblems are removed and a new front section is bolted on along with a new bonnet, hinges and door skins.

Thus begins the careful build from the kit itself which will eventually transform that boring old Datsun into a sexy little Italian racer.  It will create the replica you are looking for along with a one-piece rear section that is attached to the rear structure with new lights with an exterior trim package which is provided by OM Sportscars.   The final product is a hot little Italian race car that is extremely impressive and that every Italian lady is going to turn her head at when you fly past her at 140 mph or higher.  Don't rush this job, however, as she doesn't forgive those who are impatient.  A serious sportscar enthusiast will enjoy this build and take their time to produce a solid racer that will be dependable and relatively maintenance free. Viva la Scorpion!
