I recently read up on the handcrafted cars offered by the Mullen Motor Company (www.mullenmotorco.com) out of Las Vegas. In particular, I was absolutely captivated by the Mullen M-11, which has a distinctively exotic look.
Turns out, the Mullen M-11 has an impressive pedigree. At an Association of Handcrafted Automobiles Show just a couple months ago, she was named winner of the Special Interest award, and then took the Kit Car Illustrated Editor’s Choice Car of the Show trophy as well.
The Mullen M-11 is considered by many component car aficionados to be comparable to many high-priced exotics that typically sell for $85,000 or more. But according to Scott Allen, President of Mullen Motor Company, the M-11 sells for a lot less than that. In fact, he says this custom-built supercar actually costs less than $40,000.
The M-11 is totally hand-built for each purchaser and takes about eight weeks to complete. And this beautiful car is available either as a completely assembled body/chassis unit or as a turnkey.
One really cool touch that I absolutely love is the fact that the guys at Mullen Motor include the buyer’s initials as part of that particular M-11’s VIN. Now that’s style!
So what do you get in a Mullen M-11 kit? A lot more than you might think. While the standard kit includes auto meter gauges, 5-star alloy wheels, high-performance tires (225/40/17’s in front and 245/45/17’s in the rear), 300 pound rear springs, Spax adjustable rear shocks, 4-point seatbelt harnesses and much, much more, the list of options is enough to make your mouth water.
Optional features on this sexy beast include a full leather interior, air conditioning, heater/defroster, AM/FM/CD player with killer speakers, custom floor mats, and a ton of other bells and whistles that are frequently excluded when it comes to kit cars.
I suspect that with a production rate of just 25 units per year, the magnificent M-11 is going to be one of the most highly sought after and collectible cars ever produced.
