The story you are about to read is not real. It could be real, but it is a nightmare, a nightmare you are going to avoid, so don't panic. Here it goes. In May of this year a 1961 Ferrari 250GT SWB California Spyder, formerly owned by actor James Coburn, set the world record for the highest auction price ever paid for any vintage car. As the black California Spyder beauty, one of only 106 built, brought $10.8 million at the Maranello, Italy Ferrari-themed auction, Edmunds Insider correspondent Mike Lysaght didn't bat an eyelash, calling the sale "A perfectly stratospheric price for one of the most perfectly designed vehicles in automotive history."  And guess what! A gorgeously-crafted, highly-engineered Ferrari Spyder replica can be in your garage for quite a bit less than a multi-million-dollar price tag.

In what will be the ultimate fusion of automotive passion and racing history, the Barrett-Jackson Auction Company will auction several prominent motorsports vehicles at No Reserve during the 37th Annual Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Event on Jan. 12-20, 2008, in Scottsdale, Ariz. Highlighting the pavement-pounding group of racers will be "The Intimidator," a Richard Childress Racing (RCR) 1969 Series 3 Camaro limited edition vehicle (Lot #1303) that honors the accomplishments of NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Sr. and his bond with RCR.

He’s the race car legend that was inducted into the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America in 2003 and perhaps best known for his successful stints with Ferrari and Eagle teams in Formula One and his GT class victory at Le Mans 24 Hours as a member of the Carroll Shelby’s Ford Cobra team. In fact, most believe him to be one of the greatest American racers of all time and recently this was reflected when he was honored at Miller Motorsports Park (where his photos adorn one wall in the Park’s Legends Hall banquet facility).
